New Urbanism is not just for new developments. Its principles can be applied to existing neighborhoods
to enhance a sense of community by making it more walkable. Installation of wider sidewalks,
furniture zones for benches, street lamps, crosswalks, and traffic calming features naturally
draw people to walk, shop, linger, and hang out.
I invite people to discover
East Atlanta Village, a small, but thriving community that has been retrofitted
with walkability features that are pedestrian friendly. The narrative
consists of three vignettes that touch on the aforementioned New Urbanism
features as the narrator guides the viewer on his trip to the local coffee
shop.
